Current Youth News

Several members of the youth group attended the Band Together concert on November 13 at the Moose Lodge in Glen Burnie to support CAP. We enjoyed the music of several local praise bands while supporting a good cause.
The annual youth group Christmas party was held on December 4. We started with an outing to play Laser Tag in Laurel and finished up with an ice cream party in the Fellowship Hall. The youth worked on our Adopt-A-Family Christmas project while enjoying snacks and ice cream sundaes.
Our Youth Group adopted two families for Christmas; between the two families, there are 11 children. Our goal was to provide three gifts and a new pair of pajamas to each child. As usual, our congregation responded with overwhelming generosity! In spite of the snowy weather and the cancellation of services on 12/20/09, we exceeded the goal by a wide margin.
In addition to the gifts mentioned above, the youth group provided family gift bags with cookies mix, popcorn, hot chocolate, candy canes and a holiday movie. Each family also received a monetary gift from the Advent pasta dinner’s free will offering.
Many thanks from the Youth Group to all those involved, who helped to make this project a huge success and a blessing to the families that received our help.
If you are not a member of a Youth Group and would like to join in on the fun, please contact Michelle Hess, Youth Director, at 410-923-1271 or michellehess44@yahoo.com, or stop by Sunday School Room after Sunday School one morning. All youth grades 6-12 are welcome!

YOUTH GROUP PROVIDES ADVENT SUPPERS
By Lucas Witt
The First Lutheran High School and Middle School Youth provided the congregation a soup supper and pasta supper, respectively, before the first and third evening Advent services. The youth offered the meals as a service to the congregation to encourage fellowship and provide a convenient meal for those who were able to attend the Wednesday night services.
The love of Christ at First Lutheran is apparent by the generosity toward the free-will offering at both meals. Over $200 has been donated to support youth projects to assist a soup kitchen and supplement our Adopt-a-Family project.
A special thanks to all the youth and parents who assisted in supplying and preparing, and serving the meals and the congregation. This wouldn't have been possible without youth and families bearing gifts of goods, insight, and mirth.
